Black with just a hint of red that can shine through on the edges as you hold it to the light. It is nitrogenated so it had a thick creamy tan head. The aroma was almost non-existent. The texture was creamy but a little thin. The flavor was sharp, malty and a bit bitter. A hint of bakers chocolate. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Smells of coffee and chocolate and tastes of those by the boat load. Good roast and a lingering of hops. Pretty good. Sickboy282 (1098), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2003 Good general presentation, but a bit flat and the malt tasted a bit too roasted, almost burnt. OTher than that, fairly smooth beer. bluemeow76 (693), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2003 Strong coffee aroma. The color is a weird, it has a look like a glass of flat chocolate Coke. Pretty good overall. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 28, 2003 Tasted at the Cincinnati location. Strange color of coffee with butterscotch mixed in. Thin beige head with fast and thin lacing. The aroma is all roasted coffee. Medium body with mostly coffee flavor, as well as a touch of chocolate. Finish is a little bitter and sour. I think the beer would be better if it were more robust. It just seemed a little limp overall.
