| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Pours a clear orange amber with an inch or so of nearly tan head. Spotty lacing. Bold malt in the aroma.
Excellent caramel flavors in the malt, though not as sweet as some Oktoberfests I have tried. I am sometimes put off by the sweetness in this style – but must say that this beer is very nicely done. Some nice herbal/floral/spicy hops in the flavor and into the aftertaste. More sweet (but not overly so) malt in the finish. Some toffee, perhaps?
Medium to full bodied with a nice flavor that refuses to quit. DubC5000 (202), San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Rock Bottom La Jolla. Great oktoberfest, refreshing, sweet, and clean, with only the slightest bite. Deep amber in color, with a leafy, malty aroma and malty flavor with perfectly balanced carbonation. Quite a good beer IMO. dlovell2 (143), Columbia, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Mug Club Bethesda, MD. Amber color with white head. Caramel Malt flavor with crisp hop finish. This is the beer that first got me interested in craft beers 4 years ago, so every year I make sure I go back for a mug or two. I think this is the Oktoberfest I tried (since I can't find any more on the list). If so, it was damn good. I'll make a point to head back next year to have some more. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2005 Clean, clear dark amber hue, tight beigish, too brief head.
Big aromatics, herbal and malty, very solid.
Taste resounds with the same, full, rich, caramel-toned maltiness, big flavor, full-bodied, never-ending finish, with lingering toasty toffee tones lapping onto the palate over and over...almost gets slick and syrupy, but not quite.
A pleasant surprise...I’ll have to revisit this, before the season slips past us.
Earlier Rating: 12/30/2004 Total Score: 3.7 Clean, clear dark amber hue, tight beigish, too brief head.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Chicago (too bad their good rendition isn’t reflected in the mass filing rating system reflected with this Rock Bottom brew.) Clear, opal orange to brown in color with an off white wrung around the edges. Aroma disparages slightly, with standing laundry water, carpet cleaner, some caramel and nut undertones and a hint of scotch. Much more flavor than the nose would indicate. Caramel and butterscotch cookie chips. Verbose sums it up. Such a malt sweetness that so many micro and domestic versions neglect, and the Hallertau is right in line with the triple malt combo. Toffee currents, moderately spicy and a clean finish. Good job, Chicago. hotstuff (3176), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Draft. Small tan head that was mostly lasting, minimal lacing, no visible carbonation, transparent, and an orange brown hue. Malty, spicy, sweet, and clove notes for the aroma. Flavor was sweet, malty and spicy. Smooth mouthfeel. Light body. Very quaffable and nicely done. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
