On tap at the 10th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Festival: Pours a clear deep bronze with a wispy-lacing cream-colored head. Aroma of sweet pale malt and fresh citrusy piny hops. Starts fresh, piny and sweet with a healthy dose of sweet caramel malt and toasty grain along with grapefruity hops toward a thinner finish.

10th Annual SD Strong Ale Fest: Poured a hazy copper color with a small off-white head. The aroma was hop forward but balanced the hops were sweaty and piney. Notes of candy and caramel malt. Earthy and sweaty hop flavors from front to back. Semi-dry finish. The finish was long hoppy and bitter with the hop flavorgoing on and on, not just the bitterness.

Tasted on tap at the 2006 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. This Imperial IPA pours a deep orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and slightly sweet. A medium bodied double IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are piney and grapefruity. Kind of mild tasting and somewhat uninspired, especially for an Imperial IPA. A medium to mildly bitter IPA. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
