danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Aug 2, 2009 Tap at the Del Mar race track. Pours a deep chestnut brown almost no head. Roasted malt, light bitterness, oatmeal, and 2 hour old Folgers coffee. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA Jun 28, 2009 Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Dark brown with no head. Faint malty aroma. Sweet, chewy, sugary, chocolate taste with a roasty finish. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Sep 8, 2008 On tap at Hamiltons. Pours with a black body topped by a thick brown head wtih a good amount of lacing. It’s sweet and full of coffee, vanilla and an artificial chocolate note (reminds me of Cocoa powder). Light bodied for a stout and smooth. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Aug 4, 2008 Tap @ La Jolla location. Pours dark brown with a nice cascading tan head. Caramel, cocoa, oatmeal, and hot fudge in the aroma. Sticky on the tongue, but overall more of a dry stout mouthfeel. Chocolate milkshake with malt, and some espresso in the taste. Dry finish. A nice, silky smooth stout. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Apr 14, 2004 (Draft: Rock Bottom in Irvine, CA) Competent, but not outstanding, this beer is balanced, flavorful, pleasant, but still seems lighter in flavor than other oatmeal stouts; Strong dark roasted maltiness with only a moderate oatmeal flavor; Mildly sweet; Fairly bitter, but the bitterness is in balance and complementary to the maltiness; Hardly anything in the nose; Black and opaque, even at the edges; Huge, tall, tan head has great retention and good lacing DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Feb 29, 2004 Delectably delectable...i think! It pours a mean black hue with a thin scattering of orangey head which dissipates mighty quick. The aroma is choco-cocoa...! The taste...is more choco-cocoa, but it is just beautifully put together. Mocha, chocolate, cocoa and a hint of sweet coffee mixed in with more chocolate malt finish this dry beer. Nicely done indeed. I want more! 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA Jun 8, 2003 A voyage into the deepest blackness occurs upon visual inspection of this brew. Big ass chocolate in the araoma and continutues into the body of the beer, Damn impressive, just like a nice piece of dark chocolate. Most impressive. DaSilky1 (1924), San Diego, California, USA Nov 22, 2002 Updated: Feb 23, 2003Cask-conditioned draught: Dark brown, head bigger than the beer, nice nutty/chocolatey aroma, HUGE chocolate flavor and very sweet...The closest a beer can come to pure milk-chocolate
