Date: 12/20/2006

hazy amber, scant beige head, light malt aroma with only a hint of hops, good light hop flavor well balanced by lightly sweet caramel malt, nice light bitter finish, pretty light for an IPA, even an Engligh one

Score: 2.8 to 3.3

clear dark amber, wispy beige head, streaks of lace, sweet munic malt aroma with lots of earthy hops, lots of bready biscuit malt flavor, lots of hop flavor, mild bitterness complements the hops and balances the malt, touch of sweetness completes the story, like an octoberfest turned into an IPA which makes for a very good rendition of the style and much better than last visit

Summertime Brews Fest. Murky cloudy brownish orange. Not showing too much aroma. Or flavor for that matter. Mild in all respects. Not super.

on tap-pours an off white head that laces with copper color. Aroma is faint malt, hops. Taste upfront is caramel malt, mid-taste the hops joins in. Less hops than expected.

Had a little bit better luck than the first guy... granted I was already half in the bag, but this was a reasonably good citrusy IPA with a nice hop bite to finish.

Draught during my NC brew tour. Pours dark red, strangely dark for the style. The aroma has much tamer hops than I would expect. It’s more of a medicinal, sweet scent. The flavor is also strange, not the hop profile I was expecting. It’s slightly leathery overall with hints of NyQuil. Some citrus bite stings ever so slightly in the finish. I didn’t enjoy this one.

Poured a cloudy orangish yellow. Aroma was non existent, very mild hops. Flavor was bland hops and stale malt.

Pours out a darker brownish orange color. Aroma was somewhat hoppy but more malty than any thing else. Flavor was less than hoppy. I was hoping for somehting much better than this was.

Sampled at the Charlotte Oktoberfest 2006. Draft pour from a steel cask. Beer was dark brown and there was not much of a head. Smell was slight hops and a little bit of sweet malty flavors. Taste is sweet and a little bitter, but without much carbonation. This is the first thing I have drank from a cask (to my recollection) and if thats any indication to how all of the cask beers are, Ill stick with the beers that are poured from bottles or kegs.
