Commercial Description:
A big beer from Scotland. The malty sweetness is balanced by the alcohol and hints of wood are noticeable from the hops. A portion of this has been put into bourbon barrels to age for 6 months.

not a bad beer. 1/4 inch lasting head, sweet aroma, bright ruby red color. the taste mingles a bright sweetness with floral and fruit notes with a hearty earthyness. it benefitted greatly from sitting for 15 minutes before consumption

(Tap) Pours a brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet toffee malts. Tastes include some fruit, peat, caramel and other light malts. Nicely hidden alcohol content, and average mouthfeel and palate. Still one of the better beers I had at the restaurant.

Served in a snifter, this has a bright ruby body with a firm beige head that coats the glass with lace. The nose is sweet with scents of apples & cherries, followed by toffee and a hint of butterscotch, and rounded out by an earthy, woody bitterness. That pretty much describes the flavor as well, except that the bitterness and tastes of wood increase as the drink warms up. A nice winter warmer.

Rock Bottom Warrenville, Warrenville, IL
Overall very solid brew....Rock bottom HAS GOT TO STOP POURING SO COLD! This beer really got god towards the end when it was warm. Clear ruby red and gold pour with minimal head. Nose is slight alcohol with caramel and malt dominatley. Flavor was similar with a sweet sugary taste that really complimented the malty caramel notes.

Cask sampler. This is all the information I have on this at the moment. Does not look like anything that’s already on the list. After 20 minutes in the glass, there’s still a bit of thin foam. Malt taste is warm, but not too sweet. No peat or smoke, but a bit of wood (not enough to think this was barrel-aged). Some decent hops to keep the schilling count low. If anyone wants to say this is their wee heavy last made in 2004, I’ll gladly move my rating.
