toddbates (95), USA Jan 10, 2008 my favorite out of the rock bottom rotating seasonal that ive had. many of the notes that you would expect from an imperial but lacking the body that would have pushed it higher
Headbanger (1012), Aurora, Illinois, USA Feb 21, 2008 16oz draft at Brewery(9.6%ABV)-A pitch black body with a huge tan head which emits an aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and a fruitiness. Taste of hops, sweetness, malt, and finishes with alcohol and bitterness. The alcohol is a little overpowering. troyc (1023), Lubbock, Texas, USA Jan 31, 2008 (Tap) Pours a inky black color with a small tan nitro head. Coffee and roasted toffee in the aroma. The taste includes burnt caramel and light hops. Rather thin, with a toasted nut finish. Not really a bad beer, but could have used quite a bit more body. LilKem (1169), Marietta, Ohio, USA Mar 20, 2007 one of the better samples i had. coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, candi sugar, plum, figs, dark chocolate, and a little hoppy spice. sweet and thick, better than the rest of the beers we had, wish they would have put it in a growler for us. Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 21, 2006 I had to coddle this frozenly served ale a good fifteen minutes before is was ready to sample. (Does the brewmaster at this place want his beers served like this?) As I waited for it to warm, I appreciated the nearly black body and creamy cocoa head. The aroma, when it finally awoke, was sweet lightly roasted malt with touches of anise and chocolate. It’s somewhat thin once it’s warm enough to drink. The flavor reflects the aroma pretty much, perhaps a tad bit sweeter. Okay and drinkable, but passable as well.

Rock Bottom Warrenville, Warrenville, IL
