toddbates (95), USA Jan 10, 2008 not too much aroma on this one. it would be the perfect pairing to a nice blue cheese (possibly a stilton)
Headbanger (1012), Aurora, Illinois, USA Feb 21, 2008 6oz sample @ Brewpub(6.0%ABV)-A dark brown body with a decent head and an aroma of banana, cloves, and chocolate. Taste of banana and more banana and ends with a dryness. Has way too much banana but has potential. troyc (1023), Lubbock, Texas, USA Jan 31, 2008 (Cask) Pours a brown color with virtually no head. Aroma of vanilla, yeast and clove. Taste includes some oak, nutmeg, light bourbon, and some toffee. Finish trails off and is too sweet. Average mouthfeel and palate. Honestly, I’m not sure if this is the best candidate for a ’cask beer’. The warm dunkelweizen characteristics made the beer a little harsh in my opinion.
Earlier Rating: 1/31/2008 Total Score: 3
(Tap) Pours a rather dark brown color with a white head and little haze. Aroma of caramel malts, yeast and spices. Taste includes some banana, nutmeg, vanilla, and some toffee. Dry, grainy finish was slightly disappointing. Average mouthfeel and palate. Not a bad beer overall. jehoey (732), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 18, 2008 Growler shared with toddbates: aroma: there was so much banana that this beer could hail down a troop of monkeys, never smelled this much banana in a beer, it possibly smelled more banana than an actual banana. the aroma also had some ashiness from the dark malts, and a hint of coffee toward the middle of the glass. beer poured as dark as a stout, with more than ample head, that left a good amount of lacing on the glass. Flavor was banana, dark malts, and slightly tart, the flavor really got vegetal as it warmed. mouthfeel was quite active. sub par DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 12, 2007 Draft sampler. Listed just as "Warrenville Wheat." Smell is elusive again. But taste shows deep German dunkel malts with slight wheat spice. A yeasty background, and bit of banana bread at the finish.
