DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 29, 2008 Mug Club draft. Wow, had to check the dates on my ratings list, but yep, it’s been only two years since this RB opened, not two years since Tim took over as brewmaster. And 67 brews in that time: a new recipe every ten days! Okay, this is described as a Belgian Blond Ale. Looks disarmingly like a pilsener; golden body, thin white head, very few bubbles. Fruity smell with a tart hint of green apple that wouldn’t be out of place with a cream ale. Taste carries that fruitiness with signs of a warm ale ferment. Golden Belgian malt under bits of apple and cherry. Hops show in bitter prickles on my tongue. Sharp, spicy finish. Hidden "gas" makes this a filling beer.
Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 14, 2008 Congratulations, RB Yorktown, on your first two years!
This anniversary ale displays that brewer Tim Marshall can do more than pump out the BIG BEERS... which he does do so well. This is a sessionable golden ale, clear bodied with a creamy white head. The aroma is sweet pale malt, a light soapy yeastiness, apples, and a slight citric tartness. The cirtus element is more pronounced in the flavor, which also has an added spiciness, and delivers a slightly tart aftertaste. Nice.

Rock Bottom Yorktown, Lombard, IL
kseecs16 (601), Westmont, Illinois, USA Sep 8, 2008 Growler. Pours a pale straw gold with a creamy lightly lacing white head. Aroma is quite full of saaz hops and a rich belgian yeast character. Rich coriander flavor, some citric notes. Rich full body with a tart lingering finish. drewbeerme (1895), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 6, 2008 on tap, congrats on 2 years! pours clear gold with white head. spicy, pils malt. flavor is spicy hops, tart yeasty quality to it. clean and easy drinking.
