SQNfan (500), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2008 On tap at the brewpub: This poured an opaque brown in color with little head. Aromas were hoppy with some burnt characteristics, roasted malt. Medium-bodied and concentrated with a slightly bitter finish.
chicagodri (634), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2008 On tap @ the pub. Pours a dark brown. Actually has a decent hoppy nose for a brown ale. Nice malt and nut flavor as well. A very solid beer, and slightly better than the Bourbon Barrel Aged version. Worth a shot. drewbeerme (1895), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2008 Updated: Oct 10, 2008on tap at Rock Fest ’08. pours brown with no head. surprisingly hoppy nose. nice! toffee and PNW hops in the flavor. undercarbonated but this was a nice hoppy brown.3.7.

kseecs16 (601), Westmont, Illinois, USA Feb 18, 2008 Slightly preferred to its barrel aged brother this beer pours a nice nearly opaque brown with a thin light tan head that laces the glass nicely. Nice piney mixture of hops and nutty malt in the nose. Flavors are well blended, nutty, hops, and quite quaffable with a medium body. Good beer! Driftwood6 (209), USA Feb 9, 2008 On tap at brewpub. Thought it had a nice body with a good malt backbone. Nothing too complex in flavor-- a hint of nut, but not like as much as many other nut brown ales. Better than the barrel aged version, IMHO.
