SQNfan (424), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Jun 11, 2008 This poured black in color with a thin beige head. Aromas were of roasted malt, chocolate and creme. The wood was just a bit too strong in the midpalate as it took away from the creaminess that was trying to poke through. Hopefully this will be brewed again with more midpalate concentration to balance out the oak. Walt (2268), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 1, 2008 Pour is deep black with a thin dense tan head...smell is sweet and chocolatey roasty with some faint hints of vanilla...taste is roasty and sweet with light notes of chocolate and a strong amount of wood flavors...the hints of char I picked up become stronger and stronger....good, but a little too charred... pantanap (725), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 27, 2008 tap at Rock Fest.... poured dark brown, almost black with practically no visible head..... aroma had some nice bourbon from the barrel along with a milt amount of fruit..... flavor had a lot of barrel influence but it, ultimately, was very thin on the palate and watered down. chocolate and dark fruits were mixed in as well. drewbeerme (1782), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2008 on tap at Rock Fest ’08. pours dark brown with no head. nose of bourbon and cream. flavor is bourbon cream and chocolate, licorice as well. decent. kseecs16 (513), Westmont, Illinois, USA Feb 18, 2008 Good lacing light tan head, opaque, millky creamy malt aroma rich barrel aroma, taste is nice malty good barrel character, some whisky notes creamy milky palate. A bit thin. Creaminess and barrel make this like an Irish car bomb. Very nice lighter stout with lots of flavor.
