chicagodri (634), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2008 Tap @ Rock Bottom. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. Similar flavor. I also didn’t notice the rye in this beer. Wish I could try the regular version next time I am there. Solid beer though. Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 14, 2008 Poured into a snifter, this had a very dark mahogany body with a small, creamy tan head that lingered none too long. Nicely blended aroma of Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and a touch of old coffee. Very mooth drinking, the flavor was pretty reflective of the sensations from the nose. I kept waiting for the rye to show itself, but it never happened. Very nice after-meal sipper.

Rock Bottom Yorktown, Lombard, IL
drewbeerme (1895), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 3, 2008 on tap at RB Yorktown. pours dark brown with small tan head. aroma of bourbon, vanilla (coke?), some vinous notes too. flavors are loaded with vanilla, winey, oak, chocolate. pretty watery mouth feel. the non-ba version is way better. nice that they had that on tap too. DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2008 Taster. Yup, robust vanilla and bourbon smell, giving a strong impression of alcohol. Nearly opaque, blackish brown, with a thin, dark brown head. Taste is big on mocha java. No stout flavors like the regular Rickshaw, but like one of the little chocolate bottles filled with a vanilla liqueur. Not too much rye detectable in this specialty batch, but the barrel aging is to blame for that. Great sweet finish.
