Drnk_McDermott (1537), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 3, 2007 Mug Club mug. Think I got this toward the end of the cask. The pretty server had to pump quite a bit for a tall mug that was almost 1/4 tan, meringue-style foam over a brown-black stout body. Smell of chocolate cover cherry cordials, with a bigger alcohol nose than its listed abv would suggest. Taste is just a tiny bit ragged from stout malts, but mostly a smoothed higher-octane dry stout base. Cherries overlay nicely instead of overpowering the brew. Strong alcohol flavor. I spot no bubbles, bit texture still somehow reminds me of a Cherry Coke. I catch some yeast dregs, not unexpected. Tasty and toasty. Cornfield (4255), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Dec 2, 2007 Brewmaster Tim Marshall took some of his latest Imperial Stout, laid it down on some cherries, and served it from a cask in the brewpub. Nice. It’s black bodied with a bubbly, bubbly brown head. The aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, and a wee hint of cherries. This brew has the same rich chocolate found in the "regular" Imperial Stout, lightly roasted dark malts, and sweet cherries coming in near the finish. A bitterness tasting much like cherry pits and stems rounds out the drink. Very nice.
