Commercial Description:
Our 1st Anniversary Ale is brewed in the style of a Belgian Style Pale Ale. Malted barley along with a pinch of white wheat and rolled oats provide a base for an array of tart, spicy and fruity flavors produced by a special Trappist yeast strain. You might experience pear, green apple and plum notes while enjoying this light-bodied refreshing beer.

An interestingly complex ale yet very light and drinkable. It has a slightly hazy gold body with a tall foamy head. Nice lacing. The aroma is light but tempting with scents of orchard fruit, bananas, stone fruits, and spices. Nice creamy mouthfeel with a soft carbonation. The flavor is quietly sweet with young apples, pears, and plums. It’s spicey with clove and an easy-handed white peppering. And it has a mild citric tartness along with a floral bitterness that persists into the finish. Nice job, Mr. Marshall.
And a happy first anniversary to Rock Bottom Yorktown!

Mug Club mug, unchilled. Big foamy head atop a deceptively generic gold "beer" color. The mix of grains makes a pretty complicated smell and taste. There’s a bit of phenol to start, then some hefeweizen clove esters, followed by ale fruitiness. A sharp European hop bitterness and a slight whiff of red apple. Texture has slight oatmeal creaminess and very ticklish carboniation that makes it fun to drink. A bit of lemon and honey in the middle. The finish brings back the hefeweizen sensation.
