A light melange of spices in the nose, almost obscuring a nice, fresh beer smell. Taste starts with the lemongrass and some light cardamon. Some juniper, but without the dryness of gin behind it. Sweet citrus and spice all the way down, almost too much spice. Toward the end, I thought I had a Christmas wassail. Keep to a pint glass and you’ll be fine.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2009 On tap at the brewpub and dispensed to a club mug. The color was a golden tone with modest, white foam that reduced rather quickly to a ring and film and left some light lacing. The nose was somewhat of a pot pourri of fruitiness, with light citrus, orange and lemon zest, and the gin scent of juniper berry. Coriander was one of the dominant spice notes. The flavor gathered up all of these and complimented with a candy/honey sweetness, light grainy nature, and low hop bitterness. A refreshing brew for this time of the year. Kind of a nice change. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Hazy yellow pour, whitish, small white head that dies to a decent film, laces a bit. Aromas are orange peel, lighter coriander, some decent estery fruits like banana and apple, a touch of spiciness that grows and faint juniper berry. A mellow underlying sweetness, this beer has an initial light sweetness, fruity and belgian yeast spice, more subtle, juniper berries bring a mellow sweetness, good bitterness grows on the palate. Sticks fairly well, citrusy and piney bitterness. The mellow honey comes through more on the backend, mingling with the juniper berries, but never overtaking them. Not bad, mellow yet flavorful. Inoffensive with a nice kick from the juniper berries which elevates it above a typical bland boring Belgian ale. Bitterness really becomes quite potent. Cornfield (4954), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Finally brewer Tim Marshall came up with a solid, sensible name for a beer! I had a couple of these at the brewpub in my new Drink Me mug. It poured a slightly hazed golden body with oodles of tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass, supporting a thick white head. The aroma had sweet pale malt topped by a Wit-like spiciness and a splash or two of gin. Very smooth to drink, the spices and malt balanced out well, finishing on a dry gin-like note. Very sessionable ale. drewbeerme (2291), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 6, 2009 Draught. Pours a cold hazed rich golden with a thin filmy off-white head. Aroma is spicy, lemon citrusy, hints of clove. Lemon flavor noticeable up front with a rich spicy body. Finishes slightly bitter, floral. Weird beer that is a little too aggressive on the spice.
