kseecs16 (537), Westmont, Illinois, USA May 12, 2008 Growler from the pub. Opaque with a wispy tan lacing creamy head. Aroma is burnt and roast malts. Very strong roast character with a rich creamy finish. Hints of molasses. Medium bodied with a nice roast aftertaste. Nice. I always love a good milk stout!
tmoreau (12), Lombard, Illinois, USA Jun 8, 2008 Rich, dark brown color with a small, light brown head. Pleasant roasted coffee/cocoa aroma. Creamy, but almost too sweet coffee/cocoa flavor. Nice after dinner ale in lieu of the hot brew. drewbeerme (1790), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 4, 2008 draft. pours black with creamy beige head. aroms is very roasty. flavors are highly roasted malts, a tad astringent, grassy and piney hops, milky finish. med body. very much like their pritchard #4 but with a touch of lactose. great stuff. Walt (2268), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 1, 2008 Pour is black with a tight bubbled brown head...smell is roasty and faintly citric...roasty chocolate and coffee flavor with a sharply dry citric finish...very interesting hop usuage....quite good.... hopscotch (4481), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 7, 2008 Nitro... DLD’08... This beer rocks!... Pours tar black with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Nice retention. The aroma is all milk chocolate with touches of vanilla and coffee. Full-bodied and ultra-creamy with active carbonation. Leans a bit on the sweet side of balance with generous offerings of unfermentable sugar and chocolate. Finishes sweet and chocolaty. I’m thinking this beer was put together, much like Dieu du Ciel’s Aphrodisiaque, to be served on nitro. Without being dumbed down, it might be a bit overwhelming. Served as it is, it’s a gem! World class brew!
