DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 15, 2006 Updated: Jun 5, 2007Draft at Rock Bottom, Yorktown. This batch was tapped just three days before, and it’s pretty fresh. Orange unfiltered body, standard stiff pale ale head. Delerious northwestern hop smell. A big fresh hop load right at the front of the taste. Has a "cat" quality similar to a fresh bottle of Dreadnaught. Some heady, bready malts come through, too. Going further down, I get notes of apricots, pine resin, pineapple, and for some reason, I’m reminded of spinach. Brutal hop aftertaste for us hop-heads.

Taster from cask, 6/5/07: Pulled from the engine, its light for a pale ale (there’s a dichotomy). Hazy golden color, again a thin but stubbord white head. Warmed with low carbonation, the beer plays up the citrus charater of its hops without adding to the bitterness. Walt (2291), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 1, 2008 Cask: Pour is hazed orangey amber with a dense sticky off white head...smell faintly citric and earthy...taste is nice and toasty with a faint lingering citric bitterness....nice.... frankenkitty (1833), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Oct 23, 2006 Thick-hazed amber with oodles of carbonated streams. An extremely creamy, ecru head settles wet yet fluffy. Despite the excess force carbonation, it looks like a hand-pull. Intense grapefruit with lemony notes and fleeting hints of sugary candy. A little thin and alcohol infused yet a strong hop character remains bitter, tart and intact. For an APA, this could compete with many brewpub IPAs.

On tap at Rock Bottom Yorktown, Lombard, IL 60148
stoutchap (293), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 4, 2007 On tap at Yorktown. A nice hazy golden color with a nice white head. Grapefruit in the nose and on the tongue. Suficiently hopped to compete with many IPAs. Decent palate. Some very light malts and pine as it warms. More complex and much better than I expected . Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2006 This pours a hazy amber body with a frothy white head that dies quickly yet manages to do some fine lacing for the duration. The nose is caramel with a touch of toffee and some solid PNW hopping, grapefruit, zest of lemon, and a bit of pine. This has a well balanced flavor, the sweet malt and the bitter hops blending into one refreshing taste. Mild, lingering bitter finish. Good session stuff.

Rock Bottom Yorktown, Lombard, IL
