haddon90 (1034), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Oct 7, 2003 Deep color with a tan head. Somewhat promising even though it didn't have much of a head. Some malt from the aroma, but that's about it. Very very smooth and watered down. Tasted like water with black food coloring. No taste that I could pick out. Probably the worst stout I've had. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Oct 3, 2003 Dark brown colour with slight ruby highlights. Thin off-white head. Not much smell - perhaps a bit of malt. Medium-bodied; Strong maltiness with not much else. Aftertaste shows a bittering maltiness with nothing else going on. About average for the style, nothing special with this one. I had this pint on draught at Union Jack's in Knoxville, Tennessee on 26-September-2003 with Suttree and Haddon90, thanks guys! Libeerian (209), Garner, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2003 The aroma was a bit weak compared to my pre-rating days. The head was decent and flavor was roasty and chocolatey. A solid stout. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 25, 2003 Had on tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Chattanooga. Has a bit of a smoky, roasted aroma to it. Black as night appearance with a thin and quickly dissipating mocha colored head. Roasted coffee flavor with very subtle bitter chocolate notes. A little bit watery for a stout. Pretty decent for a brewpub stout though. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 23, 2003 Apperance is black. Little head to speak of. Flavor is of roasted malt and chocolate. Palate is a little thin and bitter. Overall I think this is a good dry stout very similar to a Guinness or a Murphy's. Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Mar 29, 2003 Dry and smooth, definately, but also has a burnt toast and coffee flavor as well. Just enough hop presence to get not your attention, but far from overpowering. Finishes smooth, with just a little bite. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2003 Coffee and Biscotti! This big oily black mug of beer gave off a nose of Cocoa Puffs and Morning Blend Starbucks coffee. A bit gritty towards the dry end, this warmed up to a bready, chocolatey, toasty beauty!
