Commercial Description:
Soft, fruity maltiness is a highlight of this tawny-hued, medium-bodied ale. Inspired by the classic ales of Scotland, the mellow flavor and gentle hop finish is a deliberate result of controlled, cool fermentation combined with an extended period of very cold aging similar to that used to produce subtle German lagers. The extra strength of such carefully crafted Scottish ales is not readily apparent due to the same aging process that creates such a clean, satisfying drinkability.

This rating may be biased since I don't really like scottish ales, yet this seems to be a decent offering.

Orange colored - lighter than I expect for a Scottish -thin head that disappears quckly. Malty, spicy aroma. Rather sour flavor, then maybe some nutmeg and walnuts coupled with some mild smokyness. Thin mouthfeel. Interesting interpretation of a Scottish.

A wonderful soft malty aroma tinged with a hint of smoke. A very nice rich dark tawny color. Very nice fruity roasted malt flavor with smoke in the background. Smooth and silky on the palate. A malty finish with touch of hops. Best brewpub beer I have had.
