haddon90 (1034), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Aug 19, 2003 A very nice look. Deep copper color with a great lingering head. Not much out of the aroma and the hops is lacking. I expected more after the pour. But not bad since it's local. Libeerian (209), Garner, North Carolina, USA Jun 11, 2003 Mad Wolf has a pleasant floral aroma and a genuine copper color. The flavor is fruity with lots of hop flavor and bitterness and a bitter-sweet finish. A little sweet for the style but good. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 25, 2003 Had this on tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Chattanooga. Light orange in appearance. Absolutely no head to it - or a discernible aroma. Hops were not very apparent. It had an odd mouthfeel to it - does not taste or feel like an IPA at all. More malt than hops - an odd take on an IPA. Ni209 (67), Tennessee, USA Apr 2, 2003 having only experienced Stone's Ruination as an example of IPA, this one was a bit odd, but the ruiner is a strong beer. this was a bit mellower and did not have quite the hoppy bite. the aftertaste was a bit odd and did not sit well. it was a nice beer though in all other respects. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2003 A bit different than I expected, but a nice surprise. Spoiled by midwest hop-addict Dr. Feelgoods like Three Floyds and Bells, I totally expect all IPAs to be huge and hoppy, but this one was subtle and soft, malty and sweet, saving the dry bitter send-off until the tail end. More balanced as it warmed, this was a nice mug of beer. (Make sure to tell your waiter to warm the glass, otherwise it shows up covered in ice!) Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Mar 19, 2003 Updated: Dec 3, 2003More a British style IPA with more malt present. Good head and appearance. Hoppy taste but not overdone. As this is probably the closest microbrew to me, I must say I am impressed. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Mar 11, 2003 Good colour, with a nice hoppy nose. Decent taste, but slightly malty, which addds some complexity to the overall beer.
