shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Aug 14, 2007 7/20/2007: Rocky River Cabin Fever is classified as a "English Style Sharp" by the brewer. I’m not exactly sure what that means, but it is very descriptive of this delicious beer. It is dark amber in color and quite murky. It has a frothy off-white head that leaves some nice lacing. The aroma contains a slightly sweet and earthy European maltiness. The taste has a medley of malty flavors (toasted and lightly caramel-like) as well as an earthy quality. The unique finish is long and dry with some earthy, resiny hop bitterness. This beer feels uniquely "sharp" on the palate, but it really isn’t bitter. It’s kind of difficult to describe; you just need to try this beer and you will see what I’m talking about. The beers feels smooth and slightly heavy in the mouth. Very good overall. It reminds me of an ESB, but much more interesting and complex. A very memorable beer indeed.
Draught at The Pub in Athens, Ohio during the Ohio Brew Week 2007. Rating #6 for this beer...
sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 1, 2007 On tap @ the brewpub: Hazy reddish color with a white head. Aroma, earthy, citrus hops, some caramel malt. Flavor, caramel and brown sugar up front with a nice earthy bitterness on the finish. Very nice beer. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA Apr 9, 2004 3/27/04: On the firk at Barley’s Mini Real Ale Fest. Nice brown-red cloudy body with a very small light tan head. Hoppy pine aroma. X-L amount of hops to taste. Fir tree and grapefruit flavors. A good beer, although not completely fermented. michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 29, 2004 Aroma was floral, but not that strong. Poured with a full - creamy head. Left a nice foamy coating on glass. Medium brown color, but a little thin. Flavor was floral and bitter with a nice array of hops, and a dry, powerful bitter finish. Also a litle piney and fresh, like Aspen. Drinkin was 'easy like Sunday morning.' Really, very easy to drink. Overall, very tasty, with powerful bittering finish unlike many so floral beers. Great warrior/chinook dry-hop finish! Dogbrick (2814), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 29, 2004 Firkin version at Barley's 2nd Annual Mini RAF (03/27/04): This being my first Rocky River brew, I was pretty excited to get to try it. I was not let down. Pours a rich amber color with a medium beige head. Thin lacing. The aroma is strong roasted malt and hops, along with alcohol. The body is kind of chewy, with a flavor that is borderline Barley Wine. Strong hops, fruit and caramel. The finish is warming alcohol and hops. Overall this was a nice treat for my introduction to the Rocky River line. bkelley68 (467), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Mar 20, 2004 Dark red color. Very hoppy aroma with a little bit of toasty malt. Big, malty, and rich. Lots of toasty flavors. Very present hops that are piney and "green". Snappy finish. Reminds me of Sierra Nevada Celebration.
