Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 16, 2009 Draft at the MRAF 2009.
Poured cloudy copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy yeasty and hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture and flat carbonation and thick particles. Medium smooth bitter citrus flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
This is a good beer but the firkin was draw from the bottom of barrel or was not given time to settle. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 10, 2009 Firkin version at Barley’s 7th Annual Mini RAF (05/02/09): This brew is a hazy orange color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing. The aroma is hoppy, primarily of the Cascade persuasion. Notes of malt and citrus as well. Medium body with a moderately hoppy character with notes of citrus and toasted malt. The finish is hoppy with a moderately bitter aftertaste that lingers a bit. Toes the line between APA and IPA, and a pretty good beer either way. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA May 4, 2009 Sampled at Barley’s 7th Annual Mini Real Ale Fest. ABV listed as 4.5-6%. Cloudy copper/amber with a medium off-white head. Citrus hop aroma, not surprising judging by the hop blend used, with a bit of a sweet malt balance. The orangey amarillos hit your tongue first, followed by the malt, then the other hops finish you off in a bitter grapefruity and floral fashion. I can see what they mean by this being more of an IPA.
