Rocky River Hazelnut Stout

<b>7/28/2007</b>: Rocky River Hazelnut Stout pours a very dark borwn color with a thin frothy head that leaves behind sihmmering lacing. The aroma has hazelnut, chocolate, and some dark, fruity malt. The flavor contains hazelnut-flavored coffee with creamer, roasted malt, and some nuttiness. This medium-bodied beer is smooth on the palate. Overall this is a good hazelnut stout that doesn’t taste fake at all.

Midnight opacity. Tan head forms easily but struggles to survive. Appropriate hazelnut aroma over cocoa and coffee. Roasty flavors are drenched in a chemical hazelnut syrup flair. I know that proper nuts are used, but the end result feels forced and chemical. Smooth and slick mouthfeel.

Growler from grbdg. Nutty hazelnut flavor that seemed slight artificial that was a little funky and weird. Body was thin but overall this was very flavorful and unique.

Growler shared at Columbus Tasting 8 - Poured dark brown with a very short tan head that faded back quick. Aromas of hazelnut, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is Hazelnut mostly but there is some chocolate and coffee as well. Smooth and easy to drink. Not much carbonation.

Flavor, roasted malts, nutty, faint chocolate, and some coffee. Someone said artificial hazelnut coffee creamer. It was accurate, though not really a bad thing.

I’m a big hazelnut fan so loved this brew. Dark brew with a foamy head, mildly bubbly. Tasted coffee and chocolate, toasty hazelnut flavor and aroma throughout. Was great with their excellent tuna cobb salad.

Draft at brewpub. Dark brown color with medium brown head that diminished slowly. Medium chocolate and malt aroma. Medium to full body with creamy texture. Solid flavor of malt, roasted chocolate and a pleasent hazelnut finish.

Dark reddish brown body, fluffly white head. Overwhelming hazelnut aroma. There’s a little bit of toasted malt and coffee that peek through once it warms up. Creamy mouthfeel. Gobs of hazelnut in the flavor, too. A touch of coffee and chocolate. A little overspiced, in my opinion.
