sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2008 On tap @ the Brewpub: Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Aroma, smoky with some lightly sweet malts. Flavor, smoke, pale malts, grassy. Pretty well balanced, but not all that impressive. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA May 27, 2008 Sample @ Brewpub: This sort of smells like the bottom of my dog’s paws; sort of salty and sweaty. Perhaps an attempt at a smoked aroma, but misses the mark. Pours a very pale yellow (that’s a whole other part of the dog). Thankfully for me, and probably not for others expecting a smoky flavor, there is only a trace of smoked flavor. Light-bodied and thin, this was really unimpressive. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jun 21, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Aroma: Nice german malt aroma with some biscuity notes. Earthy and floral/herbal hops. Appearance: Medium amber in color and hazy. Off-white head was small and foamy with fair retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Munich and pilsner malt with notes of biscuit and bread, light toasted nuts. Hops come on nice and strong with notes of earth, floral/herbal. Some light pine, too. Medium bitterness cleans the palate nicely. Clean finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: I liked this one. Nice hop profile and a clean finish. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Apr 3, 2007 On tap @ Rocky River 3/24/07, pint: Deep coppery amber w/a short lived of white head... I’ll blame the sanitizer they use to clean the glasses. Clean pils malt & light herbal/floral hop aroma; Medium toasty malt w/ strong bready overtones as it warms. Very clean. Clean palate, very crisp flavor, munich/bready malt, lightly bitter @ the finish which is dry w/ herbal/floral hops. Aftertaste is clean and lightly bitter/floral. Higher medium carbonation, drier m/f. Very clean & good beer! Very crisp, clean, and flavorful w/ no fruitiness. Very nice Altbier joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Aug 31, 2005 Hazy gold w/ soft white foam. Good lace. Aroma of herbal hops & bready malts w/ some spicy, peppery notes. Soft, grainy feel. Flavour is clean & well-balanced. Fairly dry, moderately bitter finish. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Aug 18, 2005 Hazy deep gold with a good thin head. Nose is sweet and spicy, a bit like ginger ale. Nice flavor, sweet cream and lemon, bready malt, big dry hops at the end. Good mouthfeel, rich and full. nice. bkelley68 (467), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Aug 16, 2005 Dirty golden pour with sticky lacing. This just whaps you right in the face with herbal, earthy noble hops....and lots of them at that!!! SLAM!!! There’s the hints of fresh bread and maybe some munich malts underneath, balancing the aroma. Chewy and full of bready malt flavors, but it’s really the dank hoppy nature of this beer that had me hypnotized. My server was amazed that my glass was empty about every 10 minutes. NEED TO GET CORNY OF THIS PRONTO.....
