On tap @ the Brewpub: Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Aroma, smoky with some lightly sweet malts. Flavor, smoke, pale malts, grassy. Pretty well balanced, but not all that impressive.

Sample @ Brewpub: This sort of smells like the bottom of my dog’s paws; sort of salty and sweaty. Perhaps an attempt at a smoked aroma, but misses the mark. Pours a very pale yellow (that’s a whole other part of the dog). Thankfully for me, and probably not for others expecting a smoky flavor, there is only a trace of smoked flavor. Light-bodied and thin, this was really unimpressive.

On tap @ Rocky River 3/24/07, pint: Deep coppery amber w/a short lived of white head... I’ll blame the sanitizer they use to clean the glasses. Clean pils malt & light herbal/floral hop aroma; Medium toasty malt w/ strong bready overtones as it warms. Very clean. Clean palate, very crisp flavor, munich/bready malt, lightly bitter @ the finish which is dry w/ herbal/floral hops. Aftertaste is clean and lightly bitter/floral. Higher medium carbonation, drier m/f. Very clean & good beer! Very crisp, clean, and flavorful w/ no fruitiness. Very nice Altbier

Hazy gold w/ soft white foam. Good lace. Aroma of herbal hops & bready malts w/ some spicy, peppery notes. Soft, grainy feel. Flavour is clean & well-balanced. Fairly dry, moderately bitter finish.
