alagnak (295), Littleton, Colorado, USA Oct 26, 2009 Smells of designer knockoff perfume and rotting grassy hops. Quite off-putting aroma, really. Taste is thankfully much better and the off- smells are gone. Grassy caramel and a light pine bitterness. ALl in all, the aroma kills this one. Rockyard - that’s strike 2... Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Oct 3, 2009 Pours copper with a huge white head. Smells of citrus, perfume, floral. Tastes of pepper, wildflowers, grassy. Decent. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of roasted and caramel, pine and orange, light dough and soap for the yeast, with background notes of date and berries. Head is frothy/creamy, white with good wispy lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy orange/brown. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately acidic, and finshes lightly sweet and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a carbonation between soft and lively, and finshes moderately astringent. A little flat in the flavor, but it’s smells pretty goo and there’s nothing offensive about it. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 17, 2009 Clear amber pour with a small head. Smell is strongly of citrus, primarily grapefruit. Initial taste is too malting finishing with a great deal of hops. drjay44 (757), Salida, Colorado, USA Jul 1, 2009 Updated: Jul 12, 200922 oz. bottle. Pours a thin head of short duration over a clear coppery body....nose of pine, resin, and COFFEE....tastes of slightly sweet malts to start, then pine, resin and COFFEE.......mouth feel is medium, carbonation the same. I don’t believe the coffee nose/taste is not from the malts, but something is wrong in the mix.
A second tasting 7/11/09 did not have the coffee aromas, but there were hints of in at the end of both nose and taste, I think the origional bottle might have been mis handled. msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Jun 12, 2009 Pours golden with white head. Aroma is hops, hay, and bready malts. Flavor is mild hops, light citrus, bread and some caramel malt. Finishes bitter. Not a very good IPA. Lacking hop punch and a good malt profile. Meh. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 5, 2009 (bottle). Pours a dark golden color. Medium size head that is white in color. Minimal lacing. Has a malty and hoppy aroma, with a strong hop taste. Finish is smooth and hoppy. Soft carbonation. iride15 (169), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 2, 2008 Copper pour with a lacey head. Caramel, citrus, and pine/floral aroma. Medium-light malt lacked a bit for my standard on IPAs, but finished better with a dry bitterness. Needs a little more in alcohol content.
