Orange-red with respectably standing head. Sweet and hoppy, a nicely balanced red ale, with a nice caramel finish.

Draught. Pours bronze to amber-brown with a patchy off-white head and spotty lacing. Aroma is floral, fruit hops, nutty caramel malt and yeast (sweat). Medium bitter hoppy flavor, finish is lightly tart and acidic, sour yeast notes. Medium bodied and fizzy, crisp palate.

On tap @ Rockyard poured a clear reddish amber with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of carmel, toffee, light fruittiness and a hint of smoke. Palate was light to medium bodiede and smooth. Flavors of carmel, light butterscotch and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering bitter finish.

Clear and deep amber-red. Smooth body with a mild carbonation. Very toasted, with a little roast and a multi-grain bread flavor. Rather sweet base (sugary caramel and BIG toffee). Maybe even a hint of peat in there as well. Decent level of grassy hops.

I would have called this an Irsh ale before I would have called it an amber. A light bit of acrid smokiness, along with some rich roasted nuttiness, and smooth caramel sweetness, all wrapped up in some piney hop bitterness. Decent

Had this beer at GABF on 10/2/1999. Aroma is a faint malt scent. Color is a deep amber with ok carbonation a a light head. Taste a bit lighter then it looks like it would be with a mild malty flavor. Its ok but nothing great.
