bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 30, 2004 Updated: Aug 31, 2004(Bottle) Pours a deep ruby-brown with a rim of small white bubbles. Aroma of cherries and caramel. Flavors of cherries, plums, raspberries, and passion fruit. Complex, but well balanced. Well worth the wait and expectations! cquiroga (370), Sylmar, California, USA Aug 29, 2004 8/28/04. Poured out of 330 mL bottle, sampled at Dr. Bill and Steiny’s 8th Annual 12-Hour Beer Festival in Orange, CA 8/28/04. 1997 Vintage. Pours a rich red-amber color. Lacing is patchy but amazingly sticky, slow and sandy. Nose of tart cherries, a touch of wood and cough syrup. Some sweetness. A touch of tart brettyness, and oak all over the flavor. Syrupy, silky smooth mouthfeel. A bit dry and tart. Amazingly smooth. Finish is elegance redefined. Gliding to new and unimagined heights of bliss-- unfolding into curls of tight wood shavings and dancing waves of cherry syrup. Dry and sweet, soft and sharp, fluffy cherry velvet heaven. Absolutely superb. Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 16, 2004 Bottle purchased at Beermania in Brussels (Best before December 2000): Poured a clear reddish colored beer with a medium head with average retention. Aroma is quite wonderful with some nice sweet cherries mix with some perfect tart and sourness. Taste is absolutely incredible; closer to a lambic fruit then a Flemish sour IMO. Starting with some well balance sweetness from the cherries, it ends with some notes of sourness and tart. Oak taste is easy to detect but not overpowering. Very refreshing and easy to drink. When I actually purchase the bottle; I thought that I had overpaid but I’m now sure it was well worth the price. iwantalambic (1385), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Aug 15, 2004 33 cL bottle, age unknown…intense sour cherry aroma rushes out of the bottle, even before the pour. Deeply bronzed, ruby colour with an initially full, tight bubbled head that quickly dies into nothing…cherry skin aroma with a grassy barnyard quality. Abundant dry, sour cherries turn very woody through the finish, bitterness follows with a slight cherry oxidation. Held up pretty well, but I was expecting a slight more flaovurful, complex treat… egajdzis (3598), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 18, 2004 Vintage unknown... Pours a reddish brown color with no head or lacing. Aroma of caramel, tart cherries, and light musty horseblanket. Sour cherries and sweet malt, various skins of different fruits. A very delectable Flemish Sour, thanks hopsrus! MartinKubert (862), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 29, 2004 In both ways sweet and sour. It works very well together. Well balance. Beautiful golden orange and amber colour. Some wooden and dry finish and aftertaste. Wood, citric, orange and green apple in palate. Fantalastic brew! madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Jun 5, 2004 Bottled @ le Circus (1998 vintage): Burgundy coloured. Has a small but lasting brownish head. Is light sour cherryaroma. The fruitsweetness really suits the sourness. The flavour is similar. The sourness is perfectly matched by a sweet and fruity cherryflavour. Really nice. Has a to die for aftertaste of fresh and citric fruits. Lives for quite a long time on the palate. Had to pay 8€ for this 0,25l bottle, but it was worth every penny. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jun 4, 2004 Bottle. Small sized ivory head and fine-medium sized bubbles that fully diminished. Carbonated, transparent and a copper hue. Cherry and vinuous aroma. Sweet, sour, malt, and cherry flavor. Tingly mouthfeel. Medium bodied beer with sparse lacing.
