Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 8, 2004 The aroma is sweet with notes of over-ripe cherries and a light sourness. The color is a clear amber with no head. The flavor is of sweet cherries and slightly sour with notes of wood and an extremely dry end. A fantastic flavor in a fantastic beer. A have to say thanks a million to Alex (fiulijn) for trading me this beer - thanks, Alex. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 4, 2005 Updated: Jan 8, 2006(Bottle 25 cl) Strange brews they are the sophisticated Rodenbachs, but very nice experiences when you get used to them. But after a tour and a tasting at Rodenbach I certainly did. Light brownish with a reddish tint, very beautiful indeed. Quite acidic, perhaps a tiny hint of fruit sugars and not that much hops. A very complex beer - pity it’s retired. 060693 omhper (12153), Stockholm, Sweden May 7, 2002 Dark brownish red. Big fresh cherry aroma. very fruity, vinuous and sweet. Only a hint of acidity. One of the beers that got me into beer sampling, and it’s just too bad that one of the worlds best fruit beers should be discontinued. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 11, 2009 33 cL bottle at DHVL, 1992 vintage. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a semi dense white head. Cherry and vinegar like sour aroma. Sweet and malty flavoured with a light oxidation note. Smooth cherry and fruity flavoured with a very subdued rodenbach acetone note. Smooth and sweet finish. Has a bit of the sharp rodenbach acetone on the back of the nose. Lovely stuff. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jan 10, 2007 Bottle @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Cloudy brown / red color with a small off-white head. Aroma is cherry, wood, candy, vinegar. Flavor is heavy sweet, and acetic (vinegar) with a average duration. Very complex in well balance ... very very nice ... MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jan 9, 2009 Bottle, 6.5%. BB 1995, 14 years ago. From a distance the aroma is a lot like other old beers (which I usually dislike), sweet port, oxidation. Fortunately, up close it is more complex. There is the well-known prune/plum/raisin combination, and perhaps some cherry. Still acidic, though. Beautiful, clear dark red brown colour. Stable frothy head. The flavour is quite sweet, it has much of the same as the aroma. But not the oxidized characteristics, those I am happy to be without. Sweet flavour, cherry, prune notes, but with a good citric note to balance. The mouthfeel is a bit thick, tells me that there must be quite a lot of residual sugar in this beer. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 11, 2006 Bottle.
