This was hanging on better than I’d heard. Hazy copper color with cherries, brown sugar, and pitted fruits. A smooth body with similar flavors and the faintest hint of banana marring the otherwise fantastic body. A very thick mouthfeel.

Brought to MrFacto’s ’Tosa tasting by CaptainCougar. Clearish orange-red body, thin off-white head. Peculiar sweaty aroma with sour musty fruit and spices (a bit peppery). Sour, musty, moldy fruit flavor, sweaty, with pepper, cherries, and a leathery, somewhat salty finish. It’s like putting on the t-shirt you wore yesterday when you played basketball in 90 degree heat. You know, when sweat dinner plates appeared under your arms, but you didn’t stink because you wore Mitchum...without realizing that the bacteria might go to work on your shirt when you took it off the previous night. But that sounds pretty nasty, and this beer was very good. Go figure.

Bottled. Pours reddish brown in colour with almost no head. Yum Yum! Sweet and sour with notes of englsh winegums, vinegar, balsamico and "bike-glue"??? Theis??? :-) I really yum yum this beer.

I have no idea where this beer came from or how it got in the back of my fridge. Beautiful deep red color with a spiral galaxy of bubbles in my chalice. As a rule I HATE sour beers, but so far so good. The nose is a cross between sour patch kids candy and cherry flavored cough drops. I still don’t prefer sour beers, but I may be able to get through this one. Lots of sour cherry, Swedish Fish/SweetTart candy, red wine soaked wood, and the sweet/tart flavors like my mom’s home made raspberry currant jelly. The dry finish reminds me of the sensation in the mouth after smoking a sweet cigar. I refuse to admit that I have learned to like sour beers, but this is one hell of a beer. I’m going to see if I have another one somewhere back there.

Bottle. Best before 1994, sampled in May of 2006. Pours a bright copper-brown body with a small, whitish lacy head. The aroma has faint oakiness, lots of cherries, generally vinous, along with some chocolate. Flavour falls apart considering the expression I was presented with in the aroma - it’s awfully sweet and sugary...certainly too much so for my palate. There is some cherry flavour too but I didn’t find this to be entirely complex though there are some woody undertones. I would have liked to try this fresh.

Vinegary aroma, which is mostly dominated by fresh, soft, sweet cherry essence. Oddly, only a slightlest trace of wood. Rusty fluid with retentive and unsticky whisp of foam. Semi-soft mouthfeel, medium carbonation. First sip yields intense sourness, followed by almond extract and lots of woody undertones. The conclusion is near puckering with sour plum notes. A bit lacking in the complexity department, but, still, I don"t see a beer in its class improving much upon this.

Deep reddish brown in colour. Aroma of sour cherries, vinegar. Flavour is very tart, acidic, sour, cherries. Finishes dry and nicely sour. Thanks go out to CaptainCougar for my one and possibly only chance to try this.
