Thin fleeting white head over a ginger ale colored clear body.
Aroma of chocolate covered cherries. Maybe a touch of wet shellac.
Tart, light bodied, fruity, sweetness that stays below the surface.
Spicy tart. A good one. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 24, 2003 Invigorating aroma, with orange, spice, wood, cherry, faint tea leaves and cellar must. Deep red-brown color, orange highlights and a head which settled gracefully. Tart, tangy, fruity cherry juice flavor, tempered by waves of acidic sourness, bittersweet maltiness and earthy cask. Finishes on a crescendo, exploding with juicy, fruity tartness. This is somehow poised between absolute culture and pure wildness. Excellently conceived. One must hope for the return of this classic ale. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 4, 2005 1997 bottle: Dusty cherries, oaky vineous aroma. Ruby red with a long lasting white head. Intense cherry flavour with leather, fresh grapes and port. Tart finish with an oaky woody aftertaste. Medium-full bodied with a tingle. Amazing how balanced and mellow it is, yet with so much flavour. Really good stuff. DaSilky1 (2025), San Diego, California, USA

Aroma is tart fruity esters and a hint of vinegar. Flavor is much of the same and it actually tastes pretty good. Not as sour or tart as some of the others I tried. Medium body. I don’t know if it’s the quality or the age of the beer, but this is one of the better Sours I’ve tried. Thanks Paul. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Bottle was brought up from the cellar with an unreal amount of dust and cobwebs.I don’t know if you can manufacture dust and cobwebs but if you can it was well worth it for the appearance and made it worth the 15 euros I spent.Crystal clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of wood/oak,cherries,slighlty acidic and sweet. Flavor is of sweet malt, sour cherries. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma, cherries, and a tartness to it, my words don’t describe it well enough. Flavor, very tart up front, with some sweet cherries, and a subdued sour acidity. You can taste the oak for sure, just a beautiful beer.
