330 ml bottle. Clear, deep, dark red body with a fine off-white head. Aroma is cherry, acidic fruits, mild woody and sour. It’s so complex and balanced between sweet fruity and sour fruity. Flavor is complex as well. The tart sourness with acidity, cellar notes and wood perfectly balanced with a soft sweetness from almost overripe cherries. It’s just fantastic, I miss this a lot.

33 ml bottle, thanks to moejuck for this ’extra’ in a trade. Pours deep, mostly clear mahogany color with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark and fruity malts, a bit of sourness and tannins, pie cherries, caramel and toastiness all delightfully mixed together, heavy with fruits. Sweet, tart flavors, pie cherry and wood, somewhat vinuous, with a hint of umami. Medium to full body, gently tingly carbonation. Slightly oxidized after all these years, but still deep, complex and very enjoyable.

Fabulous - A soft sweet fruity ale, not so yeasty as a result of caked conditioning (no matter how hard I tried to add some beer and swirl and pour out) - wonderful full reddishness, very clear. Head died immediately. Grapey and just a bit sour, this was superb. A bit of toasty nut and balsawood. Could be more tart, but then it wouldn’t be the mellow king. Thanks to hopsrus for this retired ruby.

Sourish taste, reminds me of unripe apples. The taste of oak casks is also evident.

Rating #1500. Bottle from Styles. Muddy brown body with a reddish tint and a tiny beige head. Sweet and tart nose with pie cherries, rich caramel, light acetic acid and figs. Flavor is moderately sweet and lightly sour with lots of cherries, plenty of caramels and toffee, light black berries, some almond, vanilla and balsamic vinegar as well. Medium body is very soft and smooth with light carbonation. Finish is long with a lasting acidity. Definitely a classic for a reason, though a touch sweeter than I would have liked.

Bottle from Eyedrinkale. Red-copper color. Decent white head. Sour cherry aroma. For some reason smells of model airplane glue. Tart and refreshing. Slight sweetness balances tartness quite nicely. Nice Flemish Sour!

Very cloudy brown-red color, thin ring of white foarm on top. Aroma of cherries, dark bread, and chocolate cake. Tart, yeasty end to the aroma. Similar characteristics in the flavor except that the cherry tartness comes out more. Dry, tart finish. A delicious desert beer, thanks go to Matt (MrFacto) for sharing this one with me!

Murky penny color. Small white head. Grape pixie stick aroma. Nice and smooth body to it that follows along the grape sour flavor, but not overly sour. Damn near good beer.
