Great winelike stuff. Redwood color and nice old ivory foam. It has aroma’s of dried red fruit and exotic spice and also a touch of old red Burgundy wine. The taste is full, rich exotic an very refreshing.

A hazy rusty orange with a thin head and decent lace. Amazing nose of cherries, caramel, oak, vanilla and more. Thinnish body, almost syrupy texture, moderate carbonation. Up front flavors of sweet cherries, caramel apples turning sharper with acidity and sourness. The sweetness however remains. Wonderful interplay and balance.

25cl bottle, dated July1991, with a huge thanks to kappldav123 for another awesome rarity! Pours a clear copper with a minimal tan head that settles to some whisp and a thin ring. Aroma starts out in a less than positive way, with an almost wood stain aroma, but fortunately starts to settle out with some air. Regardless, there are a lot of nice notes of oak, fruit, and port, but stay mostly hidden behind the less appealing aroma. The flavor on the other hand is stellar, and very surprising considering the nose, with lots of oak, vanilla, and robust dark fruits; nicely sour and tart. Drinks much, much younger than the aroma alludes, which saves this one from being out and out over the hill. The aroma and flavor couldn’t be more opposite on this one, but overall a nice experience. Thanks again David for the chance to try something I thought I’d never see, much appreciated!

400th rating, 33cl bottle, pours a clear very dark ruby with dark brown and black hues, there were very few bubbles in the glass, aromas of fruit sweetness with sour (vinous?) notes, wood, aromas of some cherry-fruit sweetness, sour tart and intense berry, I found the aroma inviting, some faint apple cider vinegar in the background to, flavor is fruity, berry and cherry sweetness that finishes with a sour tartness, starts very sweet and ends sour, has more sweet on the palate then I was expecting, so far, this is the sweetest of the sour ales I have had, and I see why this is referred to as a dessert beer with the sweetness, very tasty, some faint chocolate, dark fruit and caramel flavors in the background, it finishes with a strong, sour cherry tartness, and I found a dark candy flavor lurking in here to, very good ale, with each drink I felt a light tingle from the sourness, a medium or less mouth feel that appeared to lack carbonation but how long has this bottle been sitting around? I was happy to have come across this bottle, and I would certainly buy this again.

bouteille, j’adore cette bière tout comme la grand cru, je suis allé en Belgique en 1993 juste pour la boire, rien de mieux à l’horizon...

Pours a dark amber with a medium beige head with thin lacing. Aroma is full of citrus, and other assorted fruits. The taste is bit too much on the fruity side for me.
