Vintage unknown... Pours a reddish brown color with no head or lacing. Aroma of caramel, tart cherries, and light musty horseblanket. Sour cherries and sweet malt, various skins of different fruits. A very delectable Flemish Sour, thanks hopsrus!

Sweet merciful crap, thank you BDR! Dark, murky copper color with no head. Light aroma of cherries, lots of raisin and brown sugar. Thick and chewy molasses. A little bit of sour cherry. Finishes a bit leafy, like the leaves were left on the cherries. Only a very little bit of oak is there. Slick malt and mouthfeel.

First beer of the gathering. Not sure the date on this one (was it last made in 2000?) Bottle @ the Gathering. I believe Eyedrinkale or Jeffin7 brought this, not sure. Pours a dark ruddy orange/caramel color with some haziness perhaps?. Small beige head. Aroma is highly pungent: Cherries, wood, resinous earthy notes. Great intensity on the aroma as well, even after the bottle had sat open for some time. Flavor of cherry pits, more wood (oak, balsa, cedar) earth, lightly sour yeast. But overall, wow, this is surprisingly tame. I expected to be puckering my lips after this one. Moderately sweet, medium to medium-full body, sticky palate up front but light tingly carbonation, loosens the palate (not too much so). Lightly sweet toffee, maple and cherries mixed with citrus linger on the finish. Regardless of how old this bottle is, it is has aged very nicely and shows no oxidation or thinning. 9/4/8/4/17

Rerate from a bottle shared with Eyedrinkale in August 2005. This was the most full bodied, succulent, well-aged treat I’d had in a while. No syrupiness, not overly sweet. Perfectly sour and quenching with huge amounts of flavor and a long, lingering bacteria/musty/yeasty finish. Sour, but not TOO sour (if there is such a thing as too sour). Dry, vinegar and balsa/cedar notes, with light chocolate and prunes and brown sugar. Wonderful mouthfeel of tiny, tiny, bubbles popping in the mouth nicely. Out of this world! 9/4/10/5/19
Rating is an average of the three bottles I’ve had, though I’m tempted just to use the most recent. We’ll see how the next couple of bottles taste.

Mike hooked me up big-time with a bottle of this stuff. Absolutely phenomenal in every way. Poured a beautiful clear deep amber with great carbonation and a nice fluffy lasting head with good lace. Aroma is a kick in the face- as the cherry pie aromas dominate this beer. Some Pedio and brett in the aroma, some tartness and sour all the way through, but not nearly as sour as many other lambics or flemish sours. The flavor has the sourness lingering around the sides of the beer which come through after you notice the sweetness up front. Sweet caramel, cherry, fruity, some plum, sherry, and red wine. The woodiness of the oak comes through nicely in the middle as the beer mellows for a while. As it warms a bit, the cherry cough syrup like flavors become even more apparent but I never found them to be overwhelming or annoying. Mildly sour and tart finish but stil has that syrupy sweetness going on in the end. Very nice overall. Im very appreciative to have had a chance to drink this beer. Thanks again Mike.

Dark red color with thin head. Aroma of yeast, cherries and sour (vinegar?). Oak, sour cherry and apple taste. This stuff is just simply fantastic. Rerated. Now that I’ve had more than a few of these, I can honestly say this is awesome.

Bottle. Small sized ivory head and fine-medium sized bubbles that fully diminished. Carbonated, transparent and a copper hue. Cherry and vinuous aroma. Sweet, sour, malt, and cherry flavor. Tingly mouthfeel. Medium bodied beer with sparse lacing.

Bottled. Purchased by DrNate03 while we were at Bier Circus. 1997 vintage. Body is ruby with a small light tan head. Noce is a mellowed sour cherry, almost like cough syrup and some woods. notes. There’s also other fruitiness to it with a mellowed alcohol aroma. Taste is dark fruits with some slight tartness to it. Light hint of leather and some minimal woody notes. Body is smooth with slight tartness and acidity. Minimal carbonation sharpness. Finish is mild tartness and more dark pitted fruits (cherries mainly). Possibly hint of flat vinegar. Damn good beer!

33cl bottle via trade with Goldtwins saved for a while to share with Bikesandbeer who gave me the idea to pursue this beer in the first place. Pours reddish brown with a bit of tan ring of a head. The nose is sour, sweet and really pretty complex and interesting. The taste is sweet, sour, a bit vinegary and very interesting. A lot more muted than the more crazy grand cru. Pretty damn tasty. Damn really nice beer.
