1997 bottle: Dusty cherries, oaky vineous aroma. Ruby red with a long lasting white head. Intense cherry flavour with leather, fresh grapes and port. Tart finish with an oaky woody aftertaste. Medium-full bodied with a tingle. Amazing how balanced and mellow it is, yet with so much flavour. Really good stuff.

1992. I was worried about the age, but it had aged very gracefully. Clear red chestnut, with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is vineous with with a little port, cherries and notes of lactobacillus. Sweet cherry and caramel flavour with tartness and wood giving it an outstanding balance and drinkability.

(Bottle) Pours a deep ruby-brown with a rim of small white bubbles. Aroma of cherries and caramel. Flavors of cherries, plums, raspberries, and passion fruit. Complex, but well balanced. Well worth the wait and expectations!

Very bright red, pours a moderate pink head of short duration, but that demonstrates fine lace. Fresh berry/cherry nose with a vinous, tart oomph. Crisp, intense fruit taste of cherry, apple cider, with a CO2 bite. Great sour character like a gueuze, but with the fruit sweetnes to support it. Great beer! Damn it.

Bottle, thanks to Styles!! 1996, I believe. Poured crystal clear medium garnet with just a few loose bubbles of head sticking around. The aroma was sublime.. sweet, softer cherries and berries pair with light vinegary skins, some oak, and dusty funk.. everything blended perfectly. The flavor had a seductive moderate cherry and berry skin sourness running through it.. the oak presence was well-integrated.. mild deep cherry meat and oxidation on the back-end.. slowly rolled off the finish and left a long impression. Lower carbonation on the palate with ideal balance.. I can’t believe how well this held up!

Bottle, 1999 Vintage, courtesy of EDA. Thanks Mike! I drink this on the night before I begin my job at Duck Rabbit. Pours a vinous, multi-layered black cherry red with a spritzy, small bubbled off white head that holds an inch thick. Beaiutiful to look at, especially under the light. Nose has a lot of oak, vinegar, and cherries, and blended together exceptionally well. Could sniff this one for hours, i think i say that a lot, but its true. Flavor is sharp and acidic with more vinegar notes, but this is all very well balanced with the cherries and malt sweetness. Cherry and Raspberry vinegar lingers in the finish. This is wonderfully tart and sour and just what I needed tonight. Drank this overt the course of about an hour and a half and I think it got better with every sip, especially as it warmed. For me, this lived up to the hype and it was everything I wanted it to be. I know this may be the only bottle I will ever own of this amazing beer, but what the fuck, you only live once.

wow!! pours a fairly cloudy dark amber color with lots of lacing. strong cherry aroma, flavor and taste through-out this beer. the aroma also has hints of oak and slight vinous notes. I love the contrast of the bitterness with the strong fruit flavors. Hits the palate and makes you smile, pucker and sigh all at the same time.
