Poured a reddish brown color. Aromas and tastes of sour and tart cherries. Maybe some light oak and leather/earthy. Starts sweet and ends a very nice sour (very nice balance). This was very good and very drinkable.

Bottle at DTE - Ratebeer night (06-01-07). Deep red - white edges. Cherry, winegum, sweetcandy, "bike-glue", vinegar, dry. Fantastic combination of sweetness and sourness - very complex. Too hard to explain - i can just claim this: I Love It !!!

Bottle, vintage tasting @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. What a beer and defiantly one of the evening’s big experiences I thought. Initially I thought this had similarities with a soft drink or “fruit syrup” that I had as a child. Head was spare, white and mostly diminishing. Spare lacing. Color was ruby red and extremely pleasant to look at. Aroma was very complex with notes of berries. Assisting notes of cherry, bubble gum, apple, pear, peach, raspberry, toffee and light notes of sweet flower and citrus. Also able to detect some champagne / vinous and vinegar like notes. What a lovely sniff and mouthful. Medium to full bodied with a sticky texture and a flat carbonation. Flavor was well balanced between the moderated acidic and light sweet notes. Quit pleasant and average lasting finish. Wow what a beer, one more please!

bottle thanks amorphiss for this awesome treat!..... appearance of dark garnet and pomegranate red with no head to be seen but some smaller bubbles on the edges of the glass...the nose on this was fantastic. maple, brown sugar, sweet candied cherries, a nice woody component that added some tofee, vanilla, and sour oak....flavors of tart and sweet cherries, sweet at first and then transitions nicely to the more tart side of things. a very nice balance between the two. this aged really nicely with many of the woodiness and vanilla flavors coming through in the end....i wasn’t too hot on it at first but def. grew on me as i took my time with it while sitting in a car out in the parking lot.

This was beer nirvana.I’m not sure what year it was, but who gives a shit. Thanks SO much to Jeannie for bringing this over.I ran into a corner smiling like a drooling idiot to try this. Nothing I brought out that night was close to being worthy. Pours a brilliant amber brown with little head retention. The aroma was incredible.Cherries, oak, and ever so slightly funky with a hint of vinegar.Velvety smooth across the tongue with hints of sour fruit and a refeshing acidity.Very inspiring.

A very pleasant surprise from BDR for sharing this rarity. From 250 ml bottle pours a hazy burnt copper amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a swirly film. Aroma of cherries, dark pitted fruits, figs, brown sugar, and a touch of vanilla. Taste is smooth, medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of light caramel malt, semi-sweet cherries, brown sugar and a touch of banana liqueur. Finish is a little more towards the sweet side from the extra bottle conditioning and aging which makes this sour remarkable. Thanks for the share!

Note: I had a dream about this beer...First rating from bottle at Bier Circus in Brussles: Well-integrated sourness in this baby: ghosts of cherry and hops. One of those fine treats you will never forget. Re-rating from Oakes’ cellar: Clear red-orange, vibrant fiery joy. Aroma of cherry tarts and sherry barrels. Some candied elements. Almost flat in mouthfeel. Sweet, sour, complex and nuanced. Some watermelon, some biscuit in finish, some raspberry balsamic vinegar in the start. The balance of sweet and sour is perfect here. So frickin gorgeous they better pull a Lazarus on this baby.
