Excellent red ale. Flavor is much more intense than aroma. Not much head, and pretty cloudy.

Beer pours deep dark reddish brown and is somewhat murky. Initial head formatin is significant, but that settles down fairly quickly to a mostly diminished head. Aroma is largely vinegar with a little cherry aroma and a little oak. Flavor is much sweeter than one would assume from the aroma. Wonderfully and deftly balanced between fruit sweetness and pleasent sourness. Also a little barnyard action. What a treat. Thanks very much to hopsrus for this gem.

I was really suprised when I first drunk this beer. Sweet, sour... It’s a great pity that they don’t brew this beer anymore.

Pours a hazy dark copper with a reddish tint. Aroma of tart cherry, oak, and even a little alcohol (which surprised me sine this is only 6%). Flavor was tart and fruity. Mostly cherry again. This almost had two distinct layers. One dry and woody and the other sweet and fruity. So it seems like it is about to give a dry finish but then conitnues on we a sweet soft tanginess. The finish is very light, soft, and silky.

Distinguished cherries herald a wooden sourness…A poem or two later, they hail a caramelly sorbet with vanilla coulis…Awe-inspiring, sweet and acidic class…

Hugely fruity aroma. Noticeable sourness. Murky brown with red tones. Sweet roasted balsamic flavour. Mouthfeel is fairly still but enjoyable. Has a farmhouse cider-like feel to it. Bottle (enjoyed with MartinT, mr_kimchee, Oakes and Rastacouere).

9/17/08 - Courtesy of santoslhalper, shared with Exec Board. ’96 bottle. Pours orange/amber with red hues, eggshell, fizzy head that reduces quickly to a thin, rimming film. Nose is caramel, raisin, figs, chery and mild chocolate - slight sherry notes. Taste is lots of cherry with caramel notes, leading to a candied chocolate, nice crisp tartness fro mthe sour cherry. Very, very solid beer. Yummy in the tummy. Thanks for the treat, Jon.
