| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 11, 2003 Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium reddish-amber, dense tiny particles, bottle
conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel), lightly yeasty
(cobwebs), with notes of cherry, cask wood, brown sugar. Flavor is
moderately sweet, heavily acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately
acidic. Medium body, watery (almost syrupy) texture, lively carbonation.
More cherry character than the Grand Cru of course, but just as sour (if
not slightly more so) and perhaps a bit less cloying. Great stuff. K-V-F-L (292), LaVista, Nebraska, USA

Might be good with chicken or even jello shots. hopscotch (5510), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The nose is very vineous, tart and cherry-laden. Nice!
The flavor is malty sweet and tart up front. Very well-balanced. Honey, raisins and a lightly pungent hop presence on the backside.
Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and pillow-soft carbonation. Lengthy, tart and sweet finish!
Excellent, world class, Northern Belgium brew! Thanks go out to CaptainCougar for this fine specimen! Marc (477), Yokosuka, Japan

Thin fleeting white head over a ginger ale colored clear body.
Aroma of chocolate covered cherries. Maybe a touch of wet shellac.
Tart, light bodied, fruity, sweetness that stays below the surface.
Spicy tart. A good one. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA

Tart sour cherry horse blanket aroma. Sharp sour and acidic. Not as dry or palate cleansing as some. It has lots of lucious fruit that lingers on the tongue. iowaherkeye (1863), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 11.2oz bottle, no date. Clear ruby orange with a thick ring of big bubble of off-white head. Smells quite a bit like the regular Grand Cru--not as sour though, and a bit of a syrupy sweetness. The sourness consists of lemony notes and light funky leather, and dry oak. Flavor is still fairly tart with some lemony notes and the leathery funk. A little bit sweeter than the aroma. I think this is a little past its prime as some paper oxidation is present. Dry oaky finish--bitterness peaked around a 2. Medium body with light carbonation. Plenty good--very good, actually--but I don’t think it would be rated as highly if it weren’t rare and retired.
