Thin fleeting white head over a ginger ale colored clear body.
Aroma of chocolate covered cherries. Maybe a touch of wet shellac.
Tart, light bodied, fruity, sweetness that stays below the surface.
Spicy tart. A good one. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium

It has aroma’s of dried red fruit and exotic spice and also a touch of old red Burgundy wine. The taste is full, rich exotic an very refreshing. marcus (1864), Sacramento, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 11, 2006 330 ml bottle that I had saved for a while. This brownish-red ale poured with no head at all. The flavor is tart cherry with a lot of oak influence from the cask. There seems to be a spicy ingredient that I can’t identify. Great brew! biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 17, 2005 Hazy brick red with a 4" mountain of a head. Active ale that gasses off loudly. Tart sour cherry horse blanket aroma. Sharp sour and acidic. Not as dry or palate cleansing as some. It has lots of lucious fruit that lingers on the tongue. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 11.2oz bottle, no date. Clear ruby orange with a thick ring of big bubble of off-white head. Smells quite a bit like the regular Grand Cru--not as sour though, and a bit of a syrupy sweetness. The sourness consists of lemony notes and light funky leather, and dry oak. Flavor is still fairly tart with some lemony notes and the leathery funk. A little bit sweeter than the aroma. I think this is a little past its prime as some paper oxidation is present. Dry oaky finish--bitterness peaked around a 2. Medium body with light carbonation. Plenty good--very good, actually--but I don’t think it would be rated as highly if it weren’t rare and retired. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

Dark red with a quickly-collapsing beige head. Aroma of a lot of oak and cherries. Sweetish-sourish flavor with lots of real cherry flavor, some malt and some wood. Nice body, slightly sticky but rather smooth. Great. Travlr (727), Washington, Washington DC, USA
