hisskirt (5), California, USA does not count Nov 8, 2009 What a wonderful beer, especially with ham. So easy to pair with food. Just pours a gorgeous oxblood color with an eggshell-white head and charming lace. The perfect amount of carbonation. In a tulip glass, the aromas are complex: attractive wood, dried cherries, & dates. Wonderful medium-heavy mouthfeel. The taste is at first sweet, then tart, then sweet again with every sip. cyrenaica (435), Milton, Ontario, Canada Nov 2, 2009 330ml bottle

I tried this beer on October 23, 2009 at ’The Beerbistro" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer pours a dark reddish brown with a 1/2" tan head into a Rodenbach Grand Cru chalice. The aroma was wood, cherries, with some other tartness. The mouhfeel was ligh-medium bodied with heavy carbonation. The flavour was quite complex with some tart cherry up front, and sweet malt tones in the finish. An excellent beer. Bontus (291), Waasmunster, Belgium Nov 2, 2009 33cl Bottle. Pours oud bruin like caramel water. Less ruby shine than the regular Rodenbach. Caskwood & sour berrie aroma’s. Initially sweet then very tart, dry and sour. Lots of lactic acid. good carbonation, good MF. Very refreshing. planky84 (99), , Greater London, England Nov 1, 2009 Pours a ruby/brown colour with a white head. Good carbonation. Aromas of sour cherries, wood, funk. Flavours of sour cherries, vinous, acetic, earthy. Finishes sweet and sour. Best example by far of this style. JanVittrup (138), København V, Denmark Oct 29, 2009 Dark ruby, no head.
Sour with plum notes. Symphonic.
Strange long sourness, not for me.
Purchased in Ølbutikken. mrhoppy (209), Santa Clara, California, USA Oct 25, 2009 Not as good as I thought it would be. Too sweet for me. Sweet like a lambic. I love the sourness though. JesseM (660), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Oct 24, 2009 330mL bottle from a group order. Classy label. Pours a clear burgundy with a small off-white head. Very little carbonation. The aroma is sharp, oak, malt vinegar, cherries, very invasive of the nose, quite nice. Flavour starts out with some sweet cherry then immediately the sourness kicks in. Wow, super tart, mouth-puckering, fizzy moldy and cheesy, kind of like yoghurt. Very impressive. Quite tasty and well integrated, feels a bit stronger than 6%. One of the few oak aged beers I’ve had that doesn’t seem unnecessary to me. Not hugely complex, just a good enjoyable puckering beer. Glad I have more than one bottle. lowgun1212 (75), Montclair, New Jersey, USA Oct 21, 2009 dark cloudy brown with tan head. strongly smells like salt, lemon, honey, slight yeast. taste is sour fruit, sweet vinegar. turns to a woody hop and then mineral bitterness. interesting development. good carbonation lifts it off the tongue before the oak is too much. Like a really dry Orangina.
