My lasting fascination with this beer lies in the fact that I can mentally conjure the extremely unique experience that it is with suprising accuracy at any given moment. The flavor and aroma are deeply memorable, which is a mandate for enjoyment in my book. douglas88 (1625), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

The aroma is tart cherries and wood. The taste was really great; a smooth tartness, mostly sour cherries, some really strong oak flavors too. Also, some malt and perhaps candies too. Just amazing. I found this to be the perfect Sour Ale. gator2683 (140), Anchorage, Alaska, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Updated: Apr 1, 2009pours a cloudy (unfiltered) red/brown color with almost no head. aroma is very sour, like red wine, with some sweetness mixed in. flavor was surprisingly good. tart (not quite sour) cherry and red berry notes with a little bit of citrus. good carbonation makes this beer is quite refreshing. definitely different than what i’m used to, but very good for my first sour. smith4498 (908), Miami, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Pours light reddish brown with minimal off white head that goes away very quickly. Sour aroma and sour taste with a metallic finish. Very tart, very good. This is only my second sour ale and I like it. Not something I could drink every day but something I enjoy. Medium body with average carbonation and a dry finish. This one really puckered my mouth. Excellent! gueuzeisgod (109), Graham, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 10, 2008 750 ml bottle, best before date of 21.09.07- so a little out of date. pours a beautiful amber/ garnet color, head dissipates quickly. Smells of strong sour funk, ascorbic/lactic acid, unique to Rodenbach. Taste is so perfectly tart, ripe strawberry, some caramel malt, light hop bitterness. Medium mouthfeel, finishes quenchingly dry. Really cleans the palate, would like to pair this with some food. The best (excluding Liefmans Goudenband) of the sour reds/browns that I have had. Has the edge on the Dutchess de Bourgogne, Petrus, Panil and others. Price is right too, can be found for $10, sometimes less.
