| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2007 This was my first sour ale, so my judgment of it may be off. I will have to try some more and then possibly re-rate. It was a mahogany color on the pour from the bottle. Aroma of cherries with a slight smokiness apparent from the oak. Beer startes sweet and smoky, but quickly the sour taste of tart berries comes through. By the finish, the sour taste was all that was left.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 1/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Updated: Mar 4, 2008I thought this beer was extremely acidic, to the point of being not only cloying but to where it tasted like a salty clout on the tongue. I thought the sourness, which was beautiful, was totally overwhelmed by a tawdry, chintzy salty/vinager/salad dressing taste that seemed like a side effect of the beer and not at all an intended result. I was really looking forward to this beer, but the sheer lack of balance really turned me off to the point that I had to pour the beer out halfway through as it tasted like an apple fruit juice drink that someone sloshed around a bag of salt ’n vinegar bag of potato chips. I love sour’s but I was not a fan of this beer at all. It has a wonderful aroma and appearance, and the palate is nice and full with lively carbonation.
