Nose is floral w/ hints of cherry. The sourness here is subdued and only about what I would expect in cherries which makes this come across as a fruit beer much more than a sour ale. It has some candy-like aspects but has enough of what Charlie Papazian calls "real beer flavor!" (always w/ exclamation point) to keep it interesting for me. This, I think, is the mark Lindeman’s is shooting at (and misses) w/ its fruit lambics. Pailhead (2610), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Bottle: Lots of sweet cherry in the aroma with a hint of tartness and the slightest touch of vinegar. Pours a transparent reddish-orange with a small fizzy pink head that diminishes quickly. The flavor starts with lots of sweet cherry, but cany cherry like gummy life-savors. Their is some light tartness in the background. There is the touch of vinegar and the light hints of wood in the finish. By no means great, but still tastey and refreshing. If the intent was to replace the Alexander with this beer, they really missed the boat. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2006 Tasted this at Riversbend, thanks matt. This beer pours a dark red color. Smell was of cherry, as I think was expected. Taste wasnt much different. Even at 3.5%, I could still taste a tinge of alcohol, but definitely not overpowering in the least. Decent at best. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Pours a ruby red color with a pinkish head. Aroma is of sour cherry. Pretty much the only flavor on this one is the cherry. Has a slightly sour finish on this one. It’s ok but given the choice I would drink a lambic. ehhdayton (1115), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2006 Pours dark red with a pinish head. The aroma is rich with cherry. Has a nice cherry flavor, somewhat like a piece of hard cherry sour candy. Also there is a slight acidicness at the finish. hopson (596), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 6, 2006 dark red appearence, smells like red wine, and appears to be carbonated red wine...extremely unbalanced, as the cherry flavor dominates...really weak in the alcohol content...makes you wish you had a lambic. if you are looking for a true flemish treat, go for the grand cru from rodenbach yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 4, 2006 Sampled at Broudy’s Holiday Beerfest, Jacksonville FL 12/2/2006. Red brown beer with a small head. Very Cherry. The cherry flavor is dominant from start to finish. Its a good flavor, but a bit overpowering. Seems well done but I’m not a fan of fruit beers. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 1, 2006 Bottle. Poured red/brown with a medium pink head. Quickly dissapating with no lacing. Smelled like cherry cider. Tastes like cherry cider with beer. I can’t really tell what kind of beer, because the malt can’t overcome the cherries. Interesting, though.
