An easy drinking kriek? maybe so. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Pours a dark cherry red that is highly carbonated and leaves a thin red lace that leaves this brew quickly. The aroma is cherry candy, dark fruit (figs, plum, dark cherries) with a faint vinegar sour candy backdrop. The taste starts super sweet like cherry cola, it then moves to a slight sour twang that finishes sweet and rough on the throat from the carbonation. This is a decent brew, IMO "dumbed down" with sugary sweet cherry syrup for people not accustomed to a true sour ale.

Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, light sourness. Light body with light stickiness and acidity. Call this a starter Flemish sour. tupalev (2617), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Is this for real? Did they actually take this well regarded beer and blend it with cherries? I thought it was a joke...anyhoo, bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, Harry’s bottle. Nice cherry red, dark, very little head. Sour cherry aroma - very fruity, but ultimately quite bland. Taste - initial sour metallic cherries - like out of a jar that has been sitting too long on the grocery shelf. Hardly any of the original’s sourness at all, which might have given this character. Maybe a hint of sourness in the finish. I dunno, it just tastes like the original "dumbed" down and mixed with a cheery beverage - I’m not a fan of the original at all, but at least it had character, this is just completely bland. blankboy (3213), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a cloudy dark pinkish-red with an average size diminishing light-pink head. Slightly subdued aroma of tart cherries. Decent flavour of tart cherries and spices but there’s some metal in the aftertaste that I didn’t care for. Medium bodied. I must say I did not mind this, I thought it was decent. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Bottle (330ml). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my bottle. Deep pink-ruby, clear, foamy/frothy pink head. Backbone of pleasantly sour/funky sour ale almost totally stomped on by cherry syrup - very much like President’s Choice Black Cherry cola - not all that bad really, but needs to be sweeter or more sour. Taste is metal, sweet cherry cough syrup, metal, sligh sour ale, and metal - with sour milk in the finish. Thickish body, flat, sticky, sweet cloying finish. Did NOT like that taste. Smells okay. hopscotch (5505), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2006 Bottle... RBSG2006... Clear ruby ale with a small, creamy, pink head. Terrific retention. Smells like Cherry Kool-Aid. Tastes like fizzy, Black Cherry Kool-Aid with not quite enough sugar thrown in the mix (the way I liked it as a kid). Gets tarter as it warms. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Finishes fruity, tangy and fairly dry. Should compete quite well with Lindeman’s Kriek on the "dumbed down; sweetened up" Belgian Lambic/Flemish Sour shelf. I like it! redlight (1487), Winter Park, Florida, USA
