The aroma is of sour fruits and wood, so is the taste, light sweet. Medium to full body with a dry, sweet sour finish. shrubber85 (2995), Wallhalben, Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2008 Bottle. Sour apple, dry red wine, wood, dust/musty aroma. Medium amber color with minimal head. Very sour unripe grape/apple flavor intially with a saline, horse blanket malt finish. Long lasting musty barley malt aftertaste. Very, very different - initial taste almost overwhelming but taste at the end and the aftertaste is spectacular. skortila (2913), Bunnik, Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2008 Bottled. Aroma has some grain, some fruitiness and woodiness. Clear, copper-red coloured with not much of a head. It’s taste is sour and tart. It has some grain, some fruitiness and woodiness again. Okay, but certainly not brilliant and definately not worth the price I payed at the cracked kettle. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Bottle #1300 rating: Poured a golden color with no to very little head. The aroma was of fruit and wood from the barrel aging. Taste was very complex. orginally it started out very tart and sour with an almost fermented grape/wine taste, but it slowely vanished to leave an oat and wood finish. The conflict between the start to finish really hid the alcohol. Lived up to expectations and more. Glad I waited for my 1300 rating to try this one! goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Poured a fairly still clear deep gold. The aroma is tart yet sweet. Some strong caramel notes. Fruity and woody notes as well. Fruity and tart again with some sweetness mixed in. Acidic finish with no alcohol at all. Light-medium body. pretty tasty. kramer (2495), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Bottle, shared by acrdz. Pours a clear gold body with a minimal thin head consisting of a few large bubbles. Nice acetic nose with oak and some sour apple. Quite a bit more funky than the regular Rodenbach. The flavor is quite biting and acidic with a good amount of oak tannins, kind of a one trick pony, but it’s at least a nice trick! Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with a dry bracing finish. Overall, a pretty nice sour, I like the heavy oakiness and vinegar. I would never have guessed that this was so high in ABV, very well hidden.
