Poured a hazy dirty brown color with little head. Dry fruity aroma, This was my first sour ale, really caught me off guard was much more sour than I expected. Once I got used to the idea of it be so sour it’s a really good ale small sips for me, very tart fruity flavors, almost like a malted sour candy. sweet.

ZBF2008: From tap. Pours hazy and dark brown with a lacing tan head. Dry and light roasted malt. Flavour holds that rather fruity towards cherry flavoured Rodenbach yeast with a distinct ether note. Light roasted malt flavour too. Slight sharp spiced flavour towards the finish. Goes slight dry.

I had one sour ale before and I have been waiting to try another one for quite some time. This was a solid beer. Pours brown with a very thin head. The aroma is of sour fruit, mostly cherries. The flavor is only slightly sour...I was actually hoping for a little bit more mouth puckering from it. Still very good and drinkable though.

250 ml. bottle from Corti Bros., Sacramento. Vinous, slightly sour aroma of cherry and dark malt. Mahogany color with a tan head that flattened quickly. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. Flavor is a tad sour with cherry and oak. Not overly dry, but a bit astringent. Very good sipper.

Had this in a bottle at the Ginger Man in NYC. It poured with a deeper red and a vibrate and lively reddish head. The head fizzled rather quickly but a nice layer skated on the surface throughout the tasting. It was my first experience with a belgian sour and it was great. The first sip was the most rewarding. It sparkled on the tounge with a fruity sweetness then bit up with some slight sourness. Then all of a sudden there was a burst of sourness. One of the more elaborate flavors I’ve had in some time.

Poured into the ol’ Duvel tulip. Body is dark brown and is penetrable only by a strong light source. Head is 2 fingers tall and tan, leaving strings of lacing. Aroma is fermenting grapes with some raspberry/cherry sweetness. Quite tart and vinegary. Taste is actually less sour than I expected. It still has enough tartness to make the corners of the mouth twinge, but it’s not as puckering as gueuze. Malty base with a bit of cherry cola. The vinous acetic character is still there from the aroma. Mouthfeel is smooth and appropriately carbonated, but the finish is too sticky and unclean. Pretty drinkable nonetheless.

May 2007 - Beer pours deep ruby red/brown with minimal head and some lacing. Faint aroma of cherries and vinegar. This was a less intense version of the Grand Cru...light and mild in both the sweetness and sourness respects. Still, I enjoyed this beer...even if I would have preferred a Grand Cru.

wesome beer. It was given to me as a valentines gift from my wife. I drink a lot of duchesse, but I hadn’t had any other flemish sours up until this point. Poured into a sifter a nice deep tan red. It had a reasonable tan head that left a little too soon. It smelled slightly sour, but it had some rich sweet fruit undertones. The taste is unique. It is not sweet like duchesse. I dont mean to disrespect it at all, but it is almost like a carbonated version of the first taste of orange juice after you brush your teeth. It is good though, seriously. The texture was rich and velvety. Over all it was a good beer. Powerful and in your face. I wish it was a little bit more balanced.
