Next to zero head and gone in 60 seconds. Dark puple-brown color. Initial flavor is heavy sweet as is the finish, which iis a good thing. I would buy more of this, but it’s not as readily available as the Duchese. thebeertourist (2822), Oslo, Norway
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 8, 2008 Bottle. Dark red brown with a small, stable head. Sour fruit aroma. Flavours are sour-sweet, ending semi-dry. Hints of yoghurt and wood. Good carbonation. Highly drinkable, but a bit sweet. Still a good session beer for enthusiasts. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2008 bottle. deep clear reddish brown with a huge off-white fluffy head that keeps going like the energizer bunny. great strong sour cherry and grape smell, with woody notes and a bit of malt that the acidic sour smell almost masks. taste is wood notes followed by berry esters, mostly cherry and some grape, maybe a hint of nuts finishing it out. lightly tart finish (i made the mistake of drinking the grand cru before this, so it almost doesn’t seem sour at all), with a hint of malty sweetness, the slightest hint of hop bitterness. lingering woody aftertaste. medium bodied, lots of creamy carbonation, and lightly astringent mouthfeel. a pretty tasty flemish red, even after the grand cru. i still prefer duchess de bourgogne, but i’d be happy to drink this again. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 5, 2008 The lactic sourness comes through in the nose, but not overpowering. The color kind of a cloudy reddish brown. It pours a moderate sized head. The lactic sourness is very well blended, and also very strong. This is a most pleasing ale if you happen to like the style, and I do. joergen (8635), Frederiksberg, Denmark

smell is a sour that is very overpowering at first and then fruit and citrus comes through, a bit of woodiness and spice after a long while.
taste is just as it smells, sour blackberry, fizzy, tart, ends slightly bitter and dryish, good spice and oak.
overall really good downgraded in palate because it was just a little too fizzy for me, taste is very good! downender (2633), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
