Bottle 25 cl. Pours a dark brownish red with an off-white head and a rich smell of cherries, red wine, ripe oramges and citrus. Best beer I ever smelled! Taste is good too, mainly ripe red fruits, strawberry, cherries, red grapes. Maybe a bit one-dimensional in taste, but sure this is a really good beer!

#750 250ml bottle. Bought in Milwaukee this summer before it was available in the KC area. Served a couple minutes out of a cold cellar (45-50°) in my NB snifter glass. Aroma is sour cherries, red wine vinegar, oak, vanilla, light colored brown sugar, and stone fruits. Smells nice, but milder than the Grand Cru. Reddish copper color with a small khaki head. Initial taste is raspberry, cherry, light oak, and vanilla followed by some oaky tannins, moderate sourness, tart cherries, blackberries and raspberries, maybe a touch of granny smith apples. The finish is lingering berries and light wood. Very crisp finish. Easy to drink, would be a nice session beer on a hot summer day. A nice starter beer for those wanting to get into sour beers or for times when one does not want to get assaulted amongst the head and neck by a bruiser such as La Folie.

750 mL corked bottle. Pours a deep red-brown body with off-white head. Aroma is mainly citrus and apple with some oak and spice. Medium bodied. Initially sweet in flavor with some oak and wood. Finishes sour and tart like a green apple.

Corked 750. Pours clear ruddy brown with an off-white head. Sour aroma, with just a touch of cherry and wood. Light body, a bit watery, with moderate carbonation. A bit of vinegar, a bit of tart fruit in the taste. Dry woody finish.

33 cl. bottle. Pours a nice clear red-brown colour with a short creamish beige head. Sour, fruity bit spiced aroma. Good filling mouthfeel. Sweet, bit sour and tart mouldy flavour with a good fruitiness. Sour fruity well lasting dry finish.

Bottle. A really interesting experience in drinking. A somewhat offputting almost vinigar aroma. Complex flavor with a tart accent.

8.45oz bottle, BB 4/24/08. Poured a beautiful shade of sparkling deep garnet with a tall, creamy cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweet and tart cherry skins, deep floral notes, and some vinegar.. strong, yet wonderfully balanced. The flavor was close.. dry, tart, dusty cherry skins provide the bulk of the flavor with a good showing from the barrel (toasted older oak and a little vanilla work very well).. mild-to-medium tartness and lingering funk as it finishes. Very dry on the palate and rather refreshing.. decent feel, but not great. Great beer overall, though!
