| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 8, 2007 Pours reddish brown with alot of carbonation. Very sour fruit smelling with some medicinal scents. In a word: awesome. Flavor is much inline with the smell. Very light on the tongue an the sour lemony flavor is very refreshing. Oak is in there if you search for it. I love this style. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2007 750ml bottle thanks to John. Pours hazy-ruby amber (almost a Bombay Mahogany) with a light white head. Sweet and sour aroma that is reminiscent of apple cider with a hint of cherry. Mulling spices are also a believable element. I really like the smell. The flavor is good though not as intense as the Grand crew. Lightly sour with very light semi-sweet hints. Lemon, cherries, and hints of wood and bitterness at the finish (mostly noticeable as it warms). The only disappointing thing is that the intensity of flavor is short lived, fading as I’ve noted to wood and light bitterness at the finish. Light mouth feel overall and fairly refreshing. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear dark ruby/brown with a one finger light tan head. Aroma is very acidic with notes of sour cherries, oak, and a little dark fruit. Taste is very tart at first lending way to oak, cherries, light caramel, and vinegar.
Medium thin mouthfeel that finishes dry and tart. Not as good as th Grand Cru but still a great sour. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 6, 2007 Tap at the Happy Gnome. Hue of cranberry juice. Aromas of brown sugar, vinegar, and some vanilla. Drowning a slight taste of white grape is a primary note of plastic-textured cherry icee. Rather dull with too much wine-cooler impishness replacing the wild intrigue of a better sour ales. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottle. Sour cherries and oak on the nose. Dry and sour (but not too much) on the palate with notes of vinegar, oak, grapes and cherries. Very dry... not nearly as creamy and complex as the grand cru, but a nice sour nonetheless. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottle. Deep ruby pour with a light brown hue, clear body with a short tanned/light brown head. Aroma is extremely tart and sour, sour cherries and wood with light plum. Taste is very, very tart, almost-mouth puckering, with strong sourness and medium sweetness. Resolves, however, into a dry, lightly acidic finish. Sour cherries and wood and faint black currant skittles. Grape. Medium body feels fuller. This has been brewed specially to my taste! Not quite as good as the Grand Cru (lacks the extreme complexity and light vinegar tones), but that’s a rather tall order, isn’t it? Nightfall (647), Athens, Greece
