| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 2, 2007 Maybe this style just doesn’t suit me, but I just don’t see the appeal. All the previous descriptions are accurate in my opinion, but the fruity vinegar thing just doesn’t sit well on my palate. Especially an entire 750 of it. This is more like a salad dressing than a beer to me. rocbyter (923), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Sample on tap from My Place in Newtown, CT. Wow this one is diffrent. Large vinegar aroma with moderate malts coming through. Amber color white large white head. Vinegar and malt flavor leaves a vinegar taste in my mouth. I happen to like vinegared items (pickles, olives, pepperoncini) but I’m not sure about drinking a whole pint of this. Looking forward to rerating this one. Optigon (562), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Pours dark brown, clear, with a moderate head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel, somewhat sweet. Flavor is sour with a strong caramel undertone. Makes for a unique and tasty change to the other sour beers I’ve had. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2007 Bottle from 1984 - Red brown body (very red) with a big big bubbled lasting head; Big very old nose, you sense the fruity vinegar Rodenbach aromas but they are well hidden by oxidized aromas; Very thin body with very little sharp carbonation, a little lactic acid; Medium long quite lactic finish, a little harsh, mostly oxidized aromas. 23 years is to much for this beer! agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured deep crimson with off-pink head that left fantastic lacing. Very complex flavor with raspberry, sour cherry, and sweet malty tones. Very nice. skibumphishead (180), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 23, 2007 750 poured into 2 sambuca snifters. This is a very drinkable and interesting beer. The aroma is of sour dark cherries, vinegar, and nutty brown ale. The first sip tastes like apple cider, cherry, cedar, and grape juice. I can not taste the 5%abv. It is full of fruit juice and a pleasant sour but not puckering aftertaste. This bottle was too easy to drink for its complexity. I love that fact that it is an interesting beer that doesn’t have over the top abv nor dominated by a single flavor. f351c4v (408), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Pours a murky brown color with minimal head. Sweet-and-sour, fruity aroma. Body is quite fruity, fresh berries throughout. Finish is sharp and tart, clean. Not bad. hellbilly (1534), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Updated: Apr 19, 2008i want a beer but i also want a shot of malt vinegar with black berries floating in it...can you do that? you’ve got to be in the mood, but man, this stuff is addictive. everytime i drink it the rating gets higher...7/4/9/4/19=4.3
bottled version... black berries and malt vinegar still reign but it seems watered down and not nearly as sour. 7/4/8/4/17=4
